On-Page & Off-Page SEO Techniques for a Website to rank top in the SERP
Search Engine Optimization was born since the time when the internet was. From then to now, people use to embed effective keywords in the contents of the website to gain traffic.
As we know that SEO has two types:
- On-Page SEO
- Off-Page SEO
On-Page SEO:
On-Page SEO is all about the visibility of the website which means how the website displays. On-Page SEO involves various elements that need to be focused, and they are as follows.
- URL Structure
- Title
- Heading Tags
- Alt Tags for Images
- The speed of the website
- Meta Description
- Responsiveness
URL Structure of the website is a vital element of the On-Page SEO as the URL is used by the engine to check the relevancy of the asked query. URL of the website describes the website and the services provided by them. The URL is expected to have the keyword embedded in it. One can change the URL later but has to take care of URL redirection as the web pages are already ranking under the previous URL, due to which the pages may lose their authority.
Title Tags
Title tags are the Major component of the On-Page Optimization. They are the elements of HTML that are used to denote the title of the pages of the website, also known as web pages. These are the names that appear on the SERPS of the search engine’s result list. Each web page’s title should be unique, and optimized with the keywords. The length of the title tag must be as per the search engine’s requirement, i.e.,55- 60 characters in length.
Heading Tags
Heading tags are used to define the title to the content of the website. It should be in H1 followed by H2, then H3 up to H5, according to the requirement. For best results, the main heading of the content should be in the H1 tag. The H1 tag should be one per page. Multiple usages of the H1 tag can be spammy. The Heading Tags must be only 30 in the count.
Alternative Tags or Alt Tags
Alternative Tags or Alt Tags are used to provide some information about the images used in the contents of the website. It is advisable to use alt tags for every image used on the website. The reason behind this is that if in case the connection of the user is low and the image is unavailable at that time, the visitor can read the information about the image. The alt text of the image should be descriptive, relevant to the image content and optimized with the desired keyword only if appropriate. The length of the alt text must be within 125 characters.
The speed of the website
The speed of the website is another factor that causes an effect on the ranking of the website. Most of the people want the website and the related web pages to get loaded within 2 seconds. If the page load speed of the website is slow, the search engine will itself provide a low rank for that particular website. So, to avoid a large bounce rate, it is ideal to have the higher loading speed of the website pages.
Meta Description
Meta Description is the block of text under the Title and the URL of the website. They are used to describe what the page is all about. They play a vital role in On-Page SEO as through these descriptions only the viewer can get the summary of the website. The desired length of the meta description of the website is within 160 characters, and it supposed to be better if the ends of the description are not cut off.
Responsiveness
Responsiveness is a vital component in designing of the website which means that the website should work or appear properly on any gadget or screen, be it desktop, tab or cell phones.
Off-Page SEO:
Off- Page SEO is far way different from the On-Page SEO as the days are gone when only filling-in the keywords in the content was good enough. The time has changed now, the competition has grown, and the one with better bonds will only achieve the top rank.
After completing the On-Page Optimization techniques or after optimizing the website’s visibility completely, one should go for the Off-Page SEO of the website that aims to build inbound links with other websites. In Off-Page SEO, the website optimizer has the responsibility of advertising it on different platforms or websites. In simple words, it means to create the link with the other websites.
One can both be a guest blogger on different websites or platforms and give genuine answers with the link of their website. But the only matter of concern here is that the quality of the link must be good. Publicity of the website’s link at the irrelevant places will result in as a spammy website.
Off-Page SEO also involves the engagement of the person on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. One should also try to be active on some forums like Quora.
